Begin with a morning pickup from your hotel or the airport in Kigali. Make an optional stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a meaningful historical experience.
Depart Kigali for Akagera National Park (approx. 2.5–3 hours) in a private 4x4 safari vehicle with Wi-Fi and charging ports. Stop for lunch and relaxation at Bashana Companies & Imigongo Art Center, where you can enjoy local art, crafts, coffee, and restrooms.
Arrive at Akagera National Park, complete park formalities, and transfer to your lodge or camp for check-in and relaxation. At 5:30 PM, embark on a night game drive to explore the park after dark with your professional guide. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge or Karenge Bush Camp.
Day 2: Boat Safari, Game Drive & Return to Kigali
Begin with an early breakfast with sunrise views. Choose between two options for your second day:
Southern Option:
- 9:00 AM: Boat safari on Lake Ihema, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and water birds - Full-day game drive toward the north - Lunch at Mihindi Picnic Area - End safari around 3:00–5:00 PM and return to Kigali
Northern Option:
- Pre-breakfast morning game drive in northern Akagera - Breakfast at camp - Scenic drive south with game viewing - Lunch stop at Mihindi - 3:00 PM: Boat safari on Lake Ihema - Game drive in southern Akagera and transfer back to Kigali Finish your safari with a drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport.
