What to Expect

This challenging full-day hike takes 6-7 hours round trip. Trek through bamboo forests and alpine meadows to reach the summit crater containing a beautiful lake. The hike is strenuous but rewarding, with incredible views and possible primate sightings along the way.

04:30–04:45 AM – Pick-Up from Kigali by Afri Safaris Driver-Guide

You are advised to pack your breakfast for the road.

07:00 AM – Arrival at Volcanoes National Park (Kinigi)

Arrive at the park headquarters for registration.
Park officials serve morning coffee or tea while you wait for the ranger briefing. Meet your ranger guides and prepare for the hike.

08:00 AM – Begin the Mount Bisoke Hike

Start your ascent through lush bamboo forests, dense volcanic vegetation, and picturesque alpine landscapes.
You are free to pack your own snacks or refreshments for energy during the trek.

12:00 PM – Summit & Crater Lake Experience

After 4–6 hours of trekking, reach the 3,711m summit and enjoy the breathtaking sight of Mount Bisoke’s stunning crater lake. Capture beautiful photos and enjoy the cool, refreshing summit atmosphere.

01:00 PM – Begin Descent

Start your descent along the same scenic trail, surrounded by lush greenery and panoramic views of the Virunga Volcanoes.

03:30–04:00 PM – End of Trek & Refreshments

Return to the base of the mountain, where refreshments are provided after the trek. Take a moment to relax and celebrate this mountain accomplishment.

04:15 PM – Lunch at Migano Restaurant, Musanze

Head to Migano Resto in Musanze and enjoy a delicious, well-deserved lunch in a cozy, relaxing setting.

05:00 PM – Drive Back to Kigali

After lunch, journey back to Kigali with your Afri Safaris driver-guide, enjoying the scenic countryside once again.

06:30–07:00 PM – Drop-Off in Kigali

Arrive back in Kigali and drop off at your preferred location concluding a rewarding and memorable mountain adventure.
