What to Expect

Early Morning Pickup in Kigali
Begin your adventure with an early wake-up and breakfast as you prepare for one of Rwanda’s most iconic experiences. Your Afri Safaris driver-guide picks you up for a scenic drive to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi. Enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills along the way.
7:00 AM Gorilla Trekking Briefing – Kinigi RDB Headquarters
At the park headquarters, join other trekkers for a mandatory briefing led by expert park rangers.
You will learn about:

What to carry and expect during the trek
You are then assigned a gorilla family based on your fitness level and trekking preference. Porters are available to assist with backpacks or equipment.
Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park (2–6 Hours)
Enter the misty rainforest with your ranger guides as you track one of Rwanda’s iconic gorilla families. Trekking time varies depending on where the gorillas nested the previous night.
When you reach them, enjoy one magical hour observing their natural behavior feeding, playing, grooming, and socializing. This is one of the world’s most powerful wildlife encounters and a true bucket-list experience.
Your driver will be waiting for you at the starting point once you return from the forest.
