Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM when your Afri Safaris guide picks you up from your hotel in Kigali. After a warm welcome and short briefing, embark on a 2.5-hour Kigali city tour before heading to the mountains.

After the memorial visit, begin your scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, enjoying rolling hills and lush landscapes.

Stretch your legs, enjoy a good cup of coffee, use the washrooms, and browse unique Rwandan art pieces in their elegant exhibition hall.
Continue to Kinigi, arriving in time to check in, freshen up, relax, and enjoy lunch.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Transfer to Lake Kivu
After an early breakfast, your driver will pick you by 6:30 AM and transfer you to the RDB Kinigi Headquarters for the official briefing.
Gorilla Trekking Experience

Receive a full briefing on gorilla behavior, trekking expectations, and guidelines

Get assigned a gorilla family based on fitness level and age

8:00 AM: Transfer to the trailhead, meet your ranger guides and porters
Trekking typically lasts 2–6 hours, depending on gorilla movement. Once you find the gorillas, enjoy a magical one-hour encounter, observing and photographing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
After returning to the starting point, proceed to Migano Restaurant in Musanze for lunch.
Afternoon: Transfer to Lake Kivu (Karongi)
Enjoy a scenic drive to the shores of Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s most beautiful lakes.
Accommodation: Cormoran Lodge
Check in, relax, and enjoy dinner overlooking the calm waters of the lake.
Day 3: Lake Kivu Boat Experience, Transfer to Nyungwe & Gisakura Tea Plantation
After breakfast, set off at 8:00 AM for a refreshing boat ride on Lake Kivu. Explore peaceful islands, enjoy cool breezes, and take in the stunning lakeside scenery.
Lunch will be served at Bethany Hotel.
In the afternoon, depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests.
Gisakura Tea Plantation Experience
On arrival in Gisakura, enjoy a 1-hour tea plantation tour, learning how Rwanda’s world-class tea is grown, harvested and processed, surrounded by rolling emerald hills.
Proceed to your lodge for check-in and relaxation.

Enjoy dinner and a peaceful evening with incredible views over the Nyungwe rainforest canopy.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe & Return to Kigali
Start early with a 5:00 AM transfer to the park headquarters for your briefing.
Chimpanzee Trekking
Head into Nyungwe Forest—home to Rwanda’s largest population of chimpanzees and 13 primate species. Enjoy watching chimps as they call, play, and leap through the treetops, along with the rich birdlife and ancient forest atmosphere.
After the trek, begin your journey back to Kigali, stopping for lunch at Uwinka or Huye depending on timing.
Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your departure.
