SIMPLE & REFINED ITINERARY
Begin your day early with a hearty breakfast as you prepare for an unforgettable primate and cultural adventure. Your Afri Safaris driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the RDB Headquarters in Kinigi, where you will attend a mandatory briefing at 7:00 AM.
This briefing is essential for your Golden Monkey Trek. Here, you’ll meet your park rangers and fellow trekkers, receive guidelines on how to behave around the golden monkeys, learn what to expect in the forest, and get advice on what to bring along. Trekking groups are assigned based on age and fitness level since some families are located deeper in the forest, requiring a longer hike. Porters are available to assist with any extra luggage.
Led by experienced park rangers, you will enter the lush forest of Volcanoes National Park in search of the endangered Golden Monkeys. The trek typically takes 2 to 5 hours, depending on the monkeys’ movements. Once located, you will enjoy a magical one hour observing and photographing these playful, fast-moving primates in their natural habitat.
After your trek, your guide will meet you at the starting point for your next immersive experience.
